BNDES approves credit for Tramontina’s investment cycle

Mar 8, 2021

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) will finance companies from the Tramontina Group. With nationwide operations, the group, which employs more than 9,000 employees, is preparing for an investment cycle until 2023. Loan operations will be conducted through Finame Direto for a total of R$ 304.4 million, which can be used for the acquisition of new machinery and equipment of national manufacture or for the purchase of industrialized materials.

The group has ten factories and exports to 120 countries. This set of financing represents BNDES’s support not only to the Tramontina Group but also to the Brazilian industry in general, since the credit will stimulate the acquisition of machinery, equipment and industrialized materials of national manufacture.

According to Marcos Rossi, Superintendent of the Industry, Services and Foreign Trade Area of BNDES, “these operations with the Tramontina Group companies are a clear example of the logic of BNDES Finame Direto since they support the expansion of BNDES’s client and also strengthen the demand for products from national companies of various sizes and sectors of the manufacturing industry.”

According to Clovis Tramontina, chairman of the Group’s Board, “the partnership between Tramontina and BNDES will expedite the investments needed to increase the production capacity of the factories benefitting from this program.” According to him, “the repercussion of the support is not only economic, allowing better conditions of competitiveness for Tramontina, but the reflexes are also social, generating sophisticated professional occupations, of high value and that boost the ecosystem of innovation in companies.”

Credit – With BNDES Finame Direto, companies can obtain a credit limit for the purchase of new machinery and equipment from about 8,000 different national companies. The program also enables the purchase of various industrialized materials. The resources can be used for two years, with the possibility of extension for another 12 months.  The payment period can reach 16 years, with a grace period between three and 36 months. BNDES’s remuneration rate varies according to the product purchased, with more favorable conditions for the acquisition of low-carbon goods (financed with resources from the Climate Fund) and machines with 4.0 technology (characteristic of advanced manufacturing services and the internet of things).
