The disbursements of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) totaled R$ 38 billion between January and September 2019, a decrease of 13% compared to the first nine months of 2018. In 12 months, the amount reached R$ 63.8 billion, remaining stable compared with the previous period. In line with the Bank’s strategic priorities, the infrastructure sector remained prominent among disbursements, having received R$ 17.36 billion, or 45.6% of the total resources. The performance in the segment was pulled by electricity and transport projects — responsible, respectively, for 22.4% and 20.7% of the volume of funds released. In the period, 97.5% of the 192,000 credit operations were carried out with this segment of smaller companies.

Regions – From the regional point of view, the highlight was the expansion of the volume disbursed to the Northern region, which, driven by the electricity sector, received R$ 2.2 billion in the period, with growth of 97%. The region’s participation in BNDES’s disbursements was 5.8% of the total, higher than its share in GDP, which is 5.4%.
