BNDES’s support to the agricultural sector through the BNDES’s Rural Credit Program reached R$ 1.7 billion in financing, of which R$ 1.5 bi are related to the 2020-2021 crop plan. Created in March with the aim of ensuring the provision of investment credit to rural producers, the program has already granted loans to 3,700 producers through more than 5,200 operations.
To provide information about this program and the other fronts to support the Brazilian agricultural sector, as well as results generated by its performance, BNDES created a portal on its website to consult the progress of all available credit lines. Clicking
here visitors can access panels with data such as volumes approved by beneficiary size, program and financial agent, as well as the geographical distribution of operations, which equipment was financed and to which strategic category the support belongs (innovation, sustainability or irrigation).
The data currently available refer to the Crop Year 2020-2021, in force from July 2020 to June 2021. A quick search on the new tool shows that most of the beneficiaries (about 37,000 or 62.7% of the total number) were focused on family farming, and that the state with the highest number of funding was Paraná. The panel also shows that the main programs by volume, since July 2020, are Moderfrota (with R$ 5.8 billion in approvals), Pronaf Investimento (R$ 2 billion) and BNDES’s Rural Credit (R$ 1.5 billion). Finally, interested parties have access to a ranking of financial agents, which shows those who approved the largest volumes of resources.
Launched in March, the BNDES’s Rural Credit Program aims to ensure the continuous supply of investment credit to rural producers. The line is used as an alternative to the agricultural programs of the Federal Government (PAGF), whose interest rates are equalized by the National Treasury. “I have a good deadline and I can manage the payment. With this I can already think about investing in irrigation with the purchase of a mobile pivot, which will allow me to have three harvests (per year). So the property becomes highly productive,” states farmer Antônio Donizetti Primon.
He was one of the pioneers in the use of the BNDES’s Rural Credit program. Antônio loaned R$ 1.3 million from the program at the Cresol Baser agency in Nova Esperança, a city near Maringá, in the state of Paraná. The farmer will invest in the construction of a shed to store machinery, equipment and seeds on his property of the municipality of Anaurilândia, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, an area of 726 hectares.
