BNDES - Brazilian Development Bank

The main drainage system of Brazilian ethanol will receive R$ 1.81 billion financing from BNDES

Jan 3, 2019

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and Logum Logística S.A. (Logum) signed a financing agreement worth R$ 1.81 billion for deployment of the pipeline and storage infrastructure of the Logistical System of Ethanol. In 2017, the system transported 2.5 billion liters of ethanol via pipes, making it the main drainage system of Brazilian ethanol and the only one to use the pipeline model.

After the completion of the new investment, scheduled for 2021, the fuel-carrying capacity will be expanded to more than 8 billion liters of ethanol per year. In addition, 128 km of new pipelines foreseen in the project will replace 400,000 truck trips that occur per year in the São Paulo metropolitan region, which will lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 700,000 tons per year.
