The disbursements of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), from January to November 2017, maintained the growing trajectory in the participation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. In the period the Bank disbursed R$ 26.5 billion for small enterprises, which is 43.4% of the total. Micro and small enterprises stand out, since they alone received R$ 15 billion, equivalent to 25% of everything that was disbursed. BNDES’s total disbursements for the period totaled R$ 61 billion.

With R$ 13 billion, Agriculture grew 8% from January to November this year, and accounted for 21.4% of disbursements from the Bank in the period. The last twelve months considered, this growth corresponds to 13%, with R$ 14.8 billion disbursed in the period between December 2016 and November 2017.

In the Infrastructure sector, the Electrical Energy segment also expanded, with R$ 11.5 billion disbursed from January to November 2017, which represents a 55% growth, compared to the same period in 2016. The approvals for the sector also stood out, adding up to a total of R$12.5 billion (122% growth).

BNDES Finame — The operating performance of the BNDES Finame line, focused on the financing of the production, modernization and purchasing of machinery and equipment, is an important indicator of the recovery of economic activity. The approvals of the line, which are the last step before contracting and disbursement, reached R$ 19.7 billion, from January to November 2017 (22% growth in comparison with the same period in 2016). Meanwhile, Finame’s disbursements totaled R $17.6 billion, from January to November this year, 11% more than in the same period in 2016.

Working capital – The BNDES Giro credit line reached R$ 6.2 billion in 2017, a 199% increase in relation to the same period last year. In 12 months, the line created to meet the need of enterprises for working capital disbursed R$ 6.8 billion, an amount 177% higher than the one corresponding to the 12 months between November 2015 and October 2016.

Regional – The Northeast maintains a 19% growth in disbursements, which reached R$ 11.4 billion between January and November. In approvals for the Northeast, BNDES registered growth of 103% between January and October, with R$ 10.7 billion. Highlights also include the Southern region which, in the period, grew 2% in the volume of approvals, with R$ 16.2 billion.

Aggregated data – Being the first phase of BNDES’s credit analysis, between January and November 2017, the consultations reached R$ 88 billion, 16% less than what was registered in the first eleven months of 2016. However, signaling the market’s disposition towards more structured operations in important segments of the economy, the consultations for operations of Civil Construction and the Chemical Industry sectors, in the period obtained a 35% and 40% growth, respectively.

The eligibilities of BNDES’s operations — which include the phase of receiving of funding requests — reached R$ 77.7 billion between January and September 2017, 17% less than that registered in the same period of 2016. In the last 12 months, eligibilities totaled R$ 83.1 billion, 24% less than that registered for the period between October 2015 and September 2016. The Civil Construction industry should be emphasized once more, its eligibilities in the period having grown 246%.

BNDES registered R$ 60.1 billion in approvals and R$ 61 billion in disbursements between January and October 2017, a 13% and 20% decrease, respectively, when compared to the same period last year. In the last 12 months, approvals registered R$ 69.8 billion (-20%) and disbursements, R$ 72,8 billion (-24%).

The BNDES has a recurring profit of BRL 1.7 billion in the first quarter
Net income, which is influenced by extraordinary events such as Petrobras dividends and reversal of provision for credit risk, was BRL 4 bn. Recurring income comes mainly from the lower average balance of Treasury - mainly due to early settlements to the Treasury in the 4th quarter/22. Disbursements totaled BRL 19.1 billion, compared to BRL 14.8 billion in the 1st quarter of 22 Default remained at a low level: 0.06%.

Executive Board presents 2022 profit and projects BNDES’ size to double to 2% of GDP by 2026
“Our project is to return to the historical level of BNDES disbursements since the beginning of the implementation of the Real, which is 2% of GDP. For this, we want to double the size of BNDES by 2026 so that it can fulfill its role of economic and social development,” said BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante at a press conference held on Tuesday the 14th, at the bank's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
